February is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Chiang Mai. The mornings are fresh, and the air is filled with the scent of flowers. It is during this time that the city transforms into a huge botanical garden during the Chiang Mai Flower Festival, a symbol of northern Thailand.
This festival has been held annually since 1977 and has become a real hallmark of Chiang Mai — the “Rose of the North.”
